Algae problems usually start small. A patch on the steps, a tint on the walls, a slight green cast to the water. Algae Smash is built to help stop that progression and to help prevent it from starting in the first place when used as a routine maintenance dose.
The active is polyquat 60, a polymer algaecide that works differently than copper-based products. It carries a positive charge that attracts and disrupts algae cell walls. Because it’s a large polymer molecule, it stays active in the water longer than many alternatives and doesn’t evaporate off.
