The Hayward Salt & Swim 3C Pro is the control unit for the Salt & Swim 3C salt chlorination system, designed for in-ground pools up to 30,000 gallons. This is the controller only; the salt cell is sold separately. Salt chlorination keeps your pool sanitized automatically by generating pure chlorine from ordinary salt, so you skip the mixing, measuring, hauling, and storing of traditional chlorine buckets and typically save more than 50 percent on chlorine cost. You are still sanitizing with chlorine, just a purer form that leaves the water feeling soft and silky. The Pro control unit has an LED control panel, a superchlorinate feature for shock-level output when needed, and plugs into a 120V GFCI outlet. The cell vessel on this model uses 2-inch unions that glue into your plumbing, so it is best installed by a pool professional. If you would rather install it yourself with non-glued unions in 1-1/2 inch or 2-inch plumbing, the standard SAS model is the one to choose.
